😁
For reasons yet unknown to me, this piece of art has fascinated me. Whether it's the subject ("Giant Stompy Killer Machines") or the absurdity of it all, I couldn't tell you. I just like it.
Of course I had to attempt to make it in miniature. A number of years ago, I made a "Have a nice day" smiley-face thing for an event at the Hamilton Road Games Group. One friend said it was the most terrifying thing he'd ever seen. It actually served no purpose for the game, but there it sat.

Well, okay then! |
Ever since I made a fleet of star ships out of styrofoam balls for a Sci-fi game, I've been awash with the things of many sizes. I like how they look and they were incredibly inexpensive! Here are some examples.

So I scrounged up a styrofoam globe, some wood skewers, coffee stirrers, and scraps, and started. I mounted it on a old CD and went from there.

- A side view - The building on fire is some sort of industrial/high tech thingee, spewing smoke, oil, and other such trash. |

The Planetary Defense Forces fight back! A PDF saucer-ship has crashed and is spreading some greenish radioactive goo. In a previous life, this fighter was a Bingo chip and a piece of a coffee stirrer. |
Not at all perfect and maybe not even a good likeness, but it was fun to build. I have other projects running - Silver Bayonet teams, terrain, and idols, Gangster figs and vehicles, 10mm Warmaster armies, and numerous odd diversions - but they're not ready for display yet. My wife has a great 3D-printed sailing ship in the works and I'm so pleased that she is enjoying building and painting it. I'll post things when they're ready.
Until later...
